Dragonsteel Accessibility

There’s some good in this world…

I’m been to a number of events lately where the accessibility options have been, well, lacking. At one of them the organizer looked at me in my wheelchair trying to get inside and committed, “huh, I guess we should have considered that people in wheelchairs might show up…”

So I just saw the Accessibility Info for Dragonsteel Nexus this year and wow. They try to address all sorts of disabilities – from mobility issues, to sensitivities to loud noise, to accommodations for portable seating and roller bags… And of course it is all “in universe” – claiming the ideals of Edgedancers.

The letter ends with the statement –

“I WILL LISTEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IGNORED
Continuous Improvement

We cannot guarantee that all needs can be met to the utmost extent, but we will try our best to provide all accommodations where possible. We strive towards the second ideal of our Edgedancers: “We will remember those who have been forgotten.”

We are excited to welcome you to Dragonsteel Nexus 2025 and are dedicated to making it an event that everyone can enjoy fully.”

Brandon Sanderson and his team are freaking amazing. I am looking forward to attending in December. Now I just have to finish my cosplays! 🙂
